Leavanny are very caring parents, something that has surprised poke'mon researchers given their nature as bug-types. Using the heat given off from fermenting leaves, Leavanny swaddles up their eggs and young alike, binding the leaves with their silk-like saliva. The leaves also provide a suitable camouflage for their vulnerable young; occasionally the compassionate weavers may be found bundling up small poke'mon in leaves to grant them a measure of cover against predators.

Poke'mon belong to (c) Nintendo

I am loving the way you did those leaves! Can't remember whether Leavanny was my all-time favorite bug type or some other one lol. Anyways, fantastic job.

This looks motherly even for bugs and the Leavanny appears female?

I was going for motherly or nurturing yes, but I wasn't really aiming at a specific gender with the Leavanny.  Since the sexual organs for mantis are at the end of the abdomen and aren't as visually obvious as a lot of mammals are, I imagine it wouldn't be immediately apparent?

I was actually just imitating the muscle/rib structure of humans to give it a more anthro look (so it looks like it's wearing a chest plate or something)- since it's an insect breasts would be kinda weird. xD

I actually really love bug types- Unova made me a happy camper when it provided so many powerful bugs that I could actually use later in the game. Typically in the older games the bug types were only useful in the beginning. :[
