Owl

After a bit of hemming and hawing I finally got around to designing an oc I've been throwing around for a while.  

This is Athenae.  She's my MLP "sona" I guess you could call it.  She's the daughter of a Verreaux's eagle owl griffin (the Archivist of the Griffin Nation) and a unicorn (an accomplished pirate).  Her mother's magic unknowingly allowed for Athenae's conception during her parent's brief fling, leaving both stunned even as the pirate dropped the hatchling off for her father to raise.  Athenae has been able to routinely send post to her seafaring mother over the years, and even occasionally gets a visit at various unnamed ports.  Her mother's favorite pet name for her is "Little Owl"- ironic as an adult she towers over the pirate.  Unfortunately the name tends to stick with ponies...  

As a hippogriff Athenae is omnivorous, a great benefit as she has recently decided on living in Equestria to better connect with her equine half.  Growing up in the Grand Library influenced her upbringing immensely, leading to her chosen profession of novelist in the Griffin Nation.  Lately though she has discovered the wonder of the world of comic books and the joy of creating them.  Perhaps she may be shocked in the future to discover a strange image imprinting itself onto her hindquarters if she keeps this up...
